Rowena Johnson

Rowena is the inventor and founder of BugBrush – a unique infant toothbrush designed to tackle the soaring rates of early childhood tooth decay, by empowering babies to safely and effectively clean their own teeth.

In the last 8 years, Rowena has worked with 5 different business advisors, 3 prototyping and design companies, 2 patent attorneys, 1 fleeting business partner (that is a story in itself) and spent a lot of money (£157k and counting). She has inserted, by hand, over 30,000 toothbrush bristles into prototypes.

Rowena has worked with Europe’s leading Paediatric Dentist for the last 6 years, and had a research study completed by the University of Sheffield on her product. She was featured in the BBC’s Money programme and has been interviewed by countless radio stations, including Chris Evans on Radio 2.

Her product is now being manufactured and recently launched into the UK market. Rowena is an example of how passion and dogged determination has seen her achieve her goals and has recently been short listed as one of the BQ Emerging Entrepreneurs Awards finalists for 2015.
